About me

Sara Khalil

After earning my bachelor’s degree in Biology from Trinity College, I spent two years doing translational medical research at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. There, I became fascinated by the applications of scientific research and how discoveries got translated into medical practice and public health actions to improve healthcare. I decided to pursue a graduate degree in biomedical sciences to get more formal training in biomedical research. I joined Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s graduate school where I earned my master’s degree. Shortly after, I decided to integrate my research background with informatics so that I could address more global and practical problems. I did my Co-op at Biogen, where I worked with the analytics and data science organization team on automating clinical trial report annotations using R programming. I am scheduled to graduate from Northeastern University’s Health Informatics program in May 2022.

As a dynamic and driven current candidate for a master’s in health informatics, I have gained a blend of technical and social skills, gained through my formal education at Northeastern University, my internship at Breegi Scientific, and my co-op training at Biogen. My experiences so far allowed me to build on my analytical and problem-solving skills by working on real-life projects and exchanging ideas with team members with various skillsets and backgrounds. I am passionate about health care. I am very interested in applying my knowledge in data analytics and visualization and clinical applications of informatics to business and real-life problems. Analyzing population-level data and deriving valuable insights to come up with clinical solutions to problems addressing healthcare quality, technologies and performance will allow me to exercise the knowledge that I have gained so far from my formal trainings and internship experiences.
